Coordinator's Welcome Message

Welcome to the Centre of Educational Research, Evaluation and Development (CERED), formerly known as Centre for Research on Improving the Quality of Primary Education in Ghana (CRIQPEG). The centre is gradually growing to become an iconic research hub for the College of Education Studies in the University of Cape Coast. It has a team of Researchers with high standards of professionalism and teamwork in all its operations and undertakings to advance the current ideas existent in the research world.  CERED’s activities focus primarily on:

  • Conducting educational and allied research
  • Offering capacity building avenues for educational systems and institutions by targeting researchers and educational workers.
  • Leading advocacy efforts on educational development policy and practice

Since its establishment in 1992 as the Centre for Improving the Quality of Primary Education in Ghana (CRIQPEG), we have collaborated with many international and local organisations in the conduct of research that yielded fruitful results vis-a-vis Improving Educational Quality Project 1 (IEQ 1); Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) and the Consortium for Research on Education Access, Transition and Equity (CREATE) project. We are very proud of our successes in the conduct of research.
The Mission of CERED gives it the edge to promote and maintain the highest educational standards of excellence, integrity, and professionalism, in carrying out its designated mandates as outlined above. This mission will continue to guide our strategic plans as we grow the stake of our research outputs and other programming areas under our purview. Indeed we are transforming the way we operate to continuously improve our ability to fulfill our mandate. Our partners and we will continue to meet the challenges of our field and to excel despite setbacks. We should all be very proud of where we are today and excited about where we are headed.  I hope and request your benign cooperation for the grand success of the centre.

Our doors are opened to individuals, institutions and systems of education that are interested in our educational research, capacity building and policy development tracks to approach us for a discussion. Please do welcome us if we approach your organization for dialogue on areas of interest in our activities.
