SECONDARY EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

On 9th August 2016 Ghana Education Service and Centre for Educational Research, Evaluation and Development, College of Education Studies, University of Cape Coast signed a contract for the performance of consultancy service for the development of research agenda for secondary education sector by the latter for the former. The assignment is part of the strategy being rolled out to empower and strengthen the secondary education subsector. The umbrella project is Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP), which is a five-year USD 156 million project has been conceived and implemented since 2014. The task for the consultant therefore is to provide technical services towards realizing a robust and outcome–based research that has the potential to inform policy and practice in secondary education system in Ghana. By means of this assignment the Client hopes to establish a research agenda for the secondary education sector. Our centre offered to undertake the assignment to the end that we would see an improved learning outcome for Science and Mathematics secondary education in Ghana. The SEIP seeks to increase access to senior secondary education to underserved districts and with the anticipation to improve quality of secondary education provided to low-performing senior high schools in Ghana.
Our component of the SEIP project is a one-year assignment that requires top notch academic end. The Team Leader of the project is Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
